Sewing cabinet poll results & a couple of sneak peeks

This weekend went by so fast for me. How about you?

It was so gorgeous out today. The sun was shining brightly with a nice warm breeze. A perfect Spring day! This warm weather gave me the opportunity to finally get into the garage to work on a couple of pieces of furniture. It is so exciting to be back in my workspace where I can be messy and not have to worry about cleaning up after myself constantly like I do when I am working in my basement.

I have a couple of sneak peeks to show you of some things that I am currently working on, but first, here are the results from the little poll that I had recently to get your input on picking a paint color for my newly acquired sewing cabinet. If you haven’t had a chance to read my previous post about how I found this cabinet, you can read about it here.

As you can see, light turquoise received the most votes. To those people who took the time to leave their votes, thanks so much for voting! You are sweethearts for helping me out!

So the next time you see my sewing cabinet it will have changed from this color…

To this color!

What do you think? Do you like it? Did I pick a good shade of turquoise?

This color is actually a little less vibrant in person than it shows on the screen so hopefully it won’t end up being too bright. I can always tone the color down a bit if need be.

I can’t wait to see how it turns out and also share it with you!

Now for my two sneak peeks…

I found this buffet on Kijiji for $50.00 a few months ago and I thought it would be the perfect piece for my Mom to use as a TV cabinet to hold her flat screen TV. I hope to share the “after” with you next week.

Why so long for the reveal? Well, my Mom lives 1.5 hours out of the city and I just remembered that she has the new cabinet door handles at her house!  Oops!

Even though I will be done painting this beauty this week, I’ll have to wait to show you the finished cabinet when I can install all of the hardware and bring her into the house. I know, I’m sorry to tease you this way!

Here is the other piece that I am working on. You may have seen these little vintage sewing cabinets/organizers at flea markets, thrift stores etc. This one I found at Goodwill for only $7.99. I think it will be perfect to store some of my growing collection of sewing supplies.

This cabinet will be getting a special treatment. Stay tuned to see how it turns out!

Until next time.

    Hi,
It’s Cathy again. Still wandering through your blog.
I have one of the vintage sewing cabinets though mine was mine originally probably late 60s early 70s (still looks brand new). I think it’s so funny when I hear “vintage” referring to those times. As well, I hear the term “mid-century” and realize that’s me – mid-century and vintage that’s me!!!! :-)
What I’m wondering is where you show the dates for your posts. I wanted to find where you finished the little accordion cabinet but don’t know how far back to go. Also do you have a search feature on your blog? They’re both probably staring me in the face but I can’t find them. That’s what happens when you’re vintage!!!!
    Take care,
    Cathy
