Back in August, I came across this antique mahogany buffet at an auction house here in town. When I first saw it I immediately thought it would be the perfect size for a TV cabinet in my family room. It also has loads of storage space, which is important to contain all of our board games, DVDs, extra remotes and other miscellaneous items, and I loved its bowed front.
As you can see by the auction photo below, it did need some work. The body of the cabinet was in excellent condition, but the top was beyond salvaging. There were huge burn marks, scrapes and chips. Since I planned to paint this cabinet anyway, I knew I could hide all the imperfections.
Back to the auction. I ended up winning this piece for only $100.00! I was the only bidder. I was ecstatic that the other auction goers did not see the potential in this buffet. Yahhh! After taking it home, I set out to begin its transformation from drab to fab!
Keep an eye out for the upcoming ”After” photos of this beautiful buffet.
